Material Selection

Silica sol casting supports the production of heat sinks from various high-performance materials, chosen based on the application's thermal, weight, and environmental requirements. Common choices include:

Aluminum Alloys: Popular for their excellent thermal conductivity, light weight, and good corrosion resistance. Ideal for most electronics cooling applications.

Copper Alloys: Offer the highest thermal conductivity, maximizing heat transfer efficiency. Used in high-performance applications where weight is a secondary concern.

Stainless Steel: Selected for applications requiring superior corrosion resistance or strength in challenging environments.

Surface Treatment

Surface treatments enhance the performance, durability, and appearance of cast heat sinks. Common options include:

Anodizing (for Aluminum): Improves corrosion resistance and surface hardness. Black anodizing can also improve heat radiation.

Electroplating (e.g., Nickel or Chrome Plating): Provides a protective barrier against oxidation and corrosion.

Passivation (for Stainless Steel): Enhances the natural oxide layer for improved corrosion resistance.
