Quality Inspection Process for Silica Sol Investment Casting Products - Pump Fittings

At Qingdao Compass Hardware Co., Ltd., we implement a rigorous and multi-stage quality inspection system for our silica sol investment casting pump fittings. Our commitment is to deliver products that meet the highest standards of dimensional accuracy, structural integrity, and surface quality, ensuring reliable performance in critical applications.

Our comprehensive quality control process is divided into three main stages:

1. In-Process Inspection (IPI)

This phase involves checks during the manufacturing process to identify and correct issues early.

--Raw Material Control:

1.Metal Alloys: Chemical composition of all incoming metal alloys (e.g., Stainless Steel 304, 316, CF8M, Duplex Steel, Carbon Steel) is verified using a Spectrometer to ensure it conforms to ASTM, DIN, or other specified standards.

2.Investment Materials: The quality of silica sol binder and zircon flour/stucco is checked for consistency and purity.

--Wax Pattern Inspection:

1.Dimensional checks of wax patterns using calipers and gauges against the CAD model or 2D drawings.

2. Visual inspection for surface defects like cracks, seams, or distortions on the wax assemblies.

--Shell Building Monitoring:

1.Visual inspection of each ceramic shell layer for uniformity and proper 2.coating.

Control of the drying environment (temperature and humidity) to prevent shell cracks.

2. Final Inspection (Pre-Shipment)

This is the most critical phase, conducted on 100% of finished castings or on a statistical basis as per AQL standards, depending on the order requirements.

--Dimensional Inspection:

1. Tools: Digital Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Pin Gauges, and Custom Fixtures.

2. Advanced Methods: For critical dimensions and first-article inspection, we use a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to verify complex geometries with high precision against the customer's technical drawings and GD&T requirements.

3. Thread Inspection: Thread gauges (Go/No-Go) are used to check all threaded connections for correct pitch, diameter, and fit.

--Visual and Surface Inspection:

1. Conducted by trained inspectors under adequate lighting.

2. Checks for surface defects such as porosity, inclusions, cracks, cold shuts, and rough areas.

3. Surface finish is verified against samples or specified Ra (Roughness Average) requirements.

--Material and Mechanical Properties Verification:

1. Chemical Composition: Certificates of Analysis are provided with each heat/batch, traceable to the material melt.

2. Mechanical Properties: Tensile, yield strength, and elongation are tested on separately cast test bars that accompany the production heat. These bars are tested in our in-house lab or a certified third-party laboratory.

3. Hardness Test: Brinell (HB) or Rockwell (HRC) hardness tests are performed on sample castings to ensure they meet the required material specifications.
